What is NRS
Although our service is named Nutrition Review Service, our real work is Nutritional Medicine based upon applied clinical biochemistry and immunology with a bit of lateral thinking.
Nutritional Medicine looks for disturbances of cellular processes and matches them to clinical settings and symptoms using data collected from many sources including blood tests, tissue mineral analysis (hair analysis), urine and stool testing, saliva testing and occasionally radiology. Each patient is also asked to fill out a questionnaire.
Autism and the Biochemical Approach
Autism rates have risen dramatically in industrialized countries around the world. Despite the large body of research into the metabolic aspects of Autism led by Carl Pfeiffer and Abram Hoffer, mainstream medicine is still largely unaware of available investigations and treatment protocols for Autism and other common conditions.
The biochemistry and toxicology of Autism has been investigated in
many centres around the globe and explained at regular conferences such
as DAN! (Defeat Autism Now). One hundred percent of cases demonstrate
abnormal biochemistry. The patterns of low and high nutrient levels and
the presence of toxic metals as seen on hair analysis, urine testing
and faecal testing can help create a customized regimen for Autism
sufferers. Cost effective (and child friendly) treatments are
prescribed are then re-evaluated with biochemical testing at regular
intervals. This is a particularly useful method because it deals with
the fundamental cause of the developmental delays. It is a proactive,
scientific approach.
